  • Five products you can really deliver, with photos
  • Any AI chat assistant
  • Fotor for background removal

Steps

  1. Plan pages and collections before you click anything

Ask a chat assistant to propose a short site map from what you sell and who buys it: home, about, two collections, five products, contact. Two clear collections beat ten thin ones.

    Weak

Make me a store for my stuff.

    Better

I sell hand-dyed scarves and matching hats to people buying gifts. Propose a home page, an about page and two collections, with one sentence for each on what it must answer.

  2. Draft the policies in plain language

Start from your store's policy templates for refunds, shipping and privacy, then ask the assistant to rewrite them in plain words without changing what they promise. These are templates: check them with a professional or your local consumer authority for your country.

  3. Prepare product images and descriptions

Remove busy backgrounds so every product sits on the same plain background. Write each description from what you know about the product, not from what the assistant guesses.

  4. Add supplier products only after a test

If you add products from a dropshipping supplier, order a sample first and time the delivery. The full method is in /guides/check-a-dropshipping-supplier/.

  5. Place a test order and run a launch checklist

Buy one product from your own store, from start to finish, on a phone. Check the confirmation email, the shipping cost, the policies in the footer and the contact details. Fix what fails before you tell anyone about the store.

The full instruction

Copy it into any AI chat assistant and change only the first line.

Change only this line: PRODUCT = [handmade ceramic mugs, 10 designs, made by me]

You help me set up an online store for my PRODUCT in one day.

Before you start, ask me one question at a time: who buys, where I ship, and how I handle returns today.

Do four things:
1. Propose a site map: home, about, two collections, five products, contact. For each page, one sentence on the question it must answer for a buyer.
2. List the three policies I need (refunds, shipping, privacy) and the facts I must fill in myself for each. Mark every point I should check with a professional or my local consumer authority.
3. Write a launch checklist of at most 12 lines that ends with a test order on a phone.
4. List any claim in my notes that I cannot prove yet.

Do not promise sales or income. Do not invent facts about my PRODUCT.

Start with the site map.

What you end up with

A working store skeleton with plain-language policies you have checked, five real products and a test order that went through, ready for your first visitors. No guarantee of sales: the store is the start, not the result.

Common mistakes

  • Publishing AI-drafted policies without checking them for your country.
  • Listing supplier products you have never seen or timed.
  • Skipping the test order and letting the first customer find the broken step.

Processes that need more than one tool

Thomas, a Kailiniai hero

Each process below uses several tools, each for the job it does best. Any AI chat assistant works where one is named.

  1. Plan pages and collections

Tools, in order: any AI chat assistant → Shopify

    1. Ask the chat assistant for a site map with home, about, two collections and five products.
    2. Create the pages and collections in Shopify in that order.

    The prompt for this process

You help me plan a small Shopify store before I build it.

    What I sell: [products]
Who buys and why: [e.g. people looking for a handmade gift]
What makes my products different, in my words: [paste]

Propose a site map: home, about, two collections, five products, contact. For each page, write one sentence on the question it must answer for a buyer and 3 headings. Group the five products into the two collections and explain the split in one line.

    Start with the site map.

  2. Draft the policies in plain language

Tools, in order: Shopify → any AI chat assistant

    1. Start from the refund, shipping and privacy policy templates in Shopify and fill in your facts.
    2. Ask the chat assistant to rewrite them in plain words without changing what they promise.
    3. Mark every point to check with a professional or your local consumer authority.

    The prompt for this process

Rewrite my store policy in plain language without changing what it promises.

Policy: [refund / shipping / privacy]
The template text with my facts filled in: [paste]
My country and where I ship: [countries]

Rewrite it in short sentences a buyer understands on a phone. Keep every promise, deadline and condition exactly as written. After the rewrite, list each point I should check with a professional or my local consumer authority, and any blank I still need to fill. This is not legal advice.

    Start with the rewritten policy.

  3. Prepare product images

Tools, in order: Fotor → Shopify

    1. Remove the background from each product photo in Fotor.
    2. Upload the images to Shopify so every product sits on the same plain background.

    The prompt for this process

I am cleaning five product photos in Fotor (background removal) for my new Shopify store.

    Products: [names and real colours]
Background I chose: [e.g. plain white, light grey]

Write a short consistency checklist for all five images: background, size of the product in the frame, light, shadows, file names. Then write an alt text of at most 15 words for each product, describing only what is visible.

    Start with the checklist.

  4. Add a few supplier products (optional)

Tools, in order: Spocket → Shopify

    1. Choose a product in Spocket that ships from your customers' region and order a sample to yourself.
    2. Add it to Shopify only after the sample arrived and you have timed the delivery.

    The prompt for this process

You help me decide whether to add a supplier product from Spocket to my Shopify store.

    Product: [name]
    Ships from: [country]
My customers live in: [country or region]
My sample: ordered [date], arrived [date], what I noticed: [notes]

List the risks for my customers on delivery, quality and returns. Then write a delivery and returns line for the product page that uses only the facts above. If something is unknown, write [CHECK?].

    Start with the risks.

  5. Test order and launch checklist

Tools, in order: Shopify → a spreadsheet

    1. Place a test order in your own Shopify store from a phone.
    2. Tick each line of the launch checklist in a spreadsheet and fix what failed.

    The prompt for this process

Write a launch checklist for my new Shopify store that I will tick off in a spreadsheet.

My store has: [pages, collections, products, policies]
Payment and shipping set up: [what I set up]
I will test from: [phone model or type]

Write at most 15 lines, grouped by: test order, emails the buyer receives, policies and footer, contact, mobile view. Each line is a yes or no check. End with what to do if the test order fails.

Start with the test order group.
