Sofia's jam looked plain next to shiny jars. She made a premium label — and deleted every claim she couldn't prove.
01 — Plain next to shiny
Next to the shiny jars from the city, Sofia’s jam looked like homework — a hand-written label, a date, a smudge of strawberry. “Make it premium,” said Luna. “Premium,” said Sofia, “is a word rich people use for lying.” But she took one of the shiny jars home to look at properly, which Luna wrote down as a yes.
02 — Four true lines
The template came with words already on it: organic, award-winning, secret recipe. Sofia deleted all three. Her strawberries are not certified anything, she has never won an award, and the recipe is sugar, fruit and patience, which is not a secret. What stayed was four lines: who made it, what is in it, when, and where to find her on Saturdays.
03 — Sofia Original
Cream paper, two colours, tidy letters and her own blue stamp at the bottom. Sofia Original, it said, and under that the four true lines. Luna said it looked expensive. Sofia said it looked honest. For once they were describing the same jar.
04 — The tourists bought it anyway
The tourists read the four lines, nodded at the word Saturdays, and bought two jars each. Nobody asked about awards. Nobody asked about organic. The shiny jars sat on the next shelf and shone at the ceiling. “Premium,” said Luna, counting. “Honest,” said Sofia, wrapping. It was the same jar.
