Guide
A training video in two voices: the standard and the tricks
Help a new person learn the job from short videos — and let your most experienced team member lead the training instead of you.
What you need
- A phone for filming short clips
- Your checklist or written standard
- Any AI chat assistant
- An AI video tool for subtitles and joining clips (optional)
Steps
Pick ten tasks, not the whole job
The tasks new people get wrong most often. One clip per task, under a minute each.
Write two parts for every clip
Use the prompt below: you say the standard (what done looks like), your experienced colleague adds the trick (how to get there faster or safer).
Film where the work happens
Real rooms, real tools, the colleague's hands. Record the voice right after, while the details are fresh.
Let the colleague run the first session
You stand a step behind. Answer only when asked. Name what they already are — then write it on their card.
The full prompt
Copy it into any AI chat assistant and fill in the brackets.
You help me write a short training video series for new team members. Our work: [type of service] Our standard / checklist: [paste] Tasks new people get wrong most often: [list] My experienced colleague's tips I have heard: [paste what you remember] For each task: 1. A title of max 6 words. 2. "The standard" — 2 sentences in my voice: what finished looks like and why it matters to the client. 3. "The trick" — 2 sentences in my colleague's voice: the practical way to get there. Leave a gap [ask colleague] where I do not know the trick. 4. What to film: 3 shots, max 10 seconds each. Keep the language plain. No jokes about mistakes people make.
What you end up with
Ten short clips in two voices, a colleague who leads the training and a standard that no longer lives only in your head.
Common mistakes
- Filming the whole job in one long video.
- Writing the colleague's tricks for them instead of asking.
- Taking over the session when the colleague is already answering.
