Guide

Your store in three languages, checked by a native speaker

Ema, a Kailiniai hero

For this guide and its prompts we recommend:

  • Shopify holds the translated pages and sets currency and shipping for each market. 3-day free trial · €1/month for the first 3 months on most plans (source)
  • Higgsfield makes a local scene around your product that you label as AI.

What you need

  • One native speaker per language who agrees to check the pages

Steps

  1. Pick three markets and start with your best pages

Choose languages where you already get visits or questions. Translate your ten best product pages and the policy pages first, not the whole store at once.

  2. Translate, then ask what reads as foreign

Run the pages through a translation tool, then ask a chat assistant to mark phrases that sound translated, sizes or units that differ in that market and words that may mean something else there.

    Weak

    Translate my store into German.

    Better

Here is my German product page. Mark every phrase that sounds translated, every unit a German buyer would expect differently and any word with a second meaning. Do not rewrite yet.

  3. Have a native speaker check every page

Machine translation is a draft. Share the pages in a document with comments and ask a native speaker to fix wording, tone and anything that reads oddly. Only checked pages go live.

  4. Add local visuals without changing the product

Make one or two scenes that fit each market, such as a local style of room or season, and clean the light and sharpness. The product stays exactly as sold, and AI scenes are labelled where they could mislead.

  5. Set currency, shipping and legal pages per market

List each market's currency, shipping cost and delivery time in a spreadsheet and set them in your store. Returns, privacy and consumer rules differ by country: for the legal pages, check with a professional.

The full instruction

Copy it into any AI chat assistant and change only the first line.

Change only this line: MARKETS = [German for Germany, French for France, Spanish for Spain]

You help me prepare my store for three new languages: my MARKETS.
Before you start, ask me one question: what my store sells and who buys it.
I start with my best product pages and my policy pages. Below I paste one machine-translated page to review.

Do four things:
1. Mark phrases that sound translated, units or sizes a local buyer expects differently and words with a second meaning.
2. Write 5 questions I should ask the native speaker who checks this page.
3. List what changes per market: currency, shipping, delivery time, sizes.
4. Mark every point on my policy pages that depends on local law with [CHECK WITH A PROFESSIONAL?].

Do not rewrite the page yet and do not invent prices or delivery times.

After my answer, start with the marked phrases.

Paste your material below this line:

What you end up with

Your best pages in three languages, each checked by a native speaker, with local visuals, local prices and legal points left to a professional.

Common mistakes

  • Publishing machine translation without a native speaker's check.
  • Translating the words but keeping units, sizes and prices from your home market.
  • Copying one country's returns policy into every language.

Processes that need more than one tool

Thomas, a Kailiniai hero

Each process below uses several tools, each for the job it does best. Any AI chat assistant works where one is named.

  1. Translate the pages

Tools, in order: Shopify → a translation tool

    1. Add the three languages in Shopify and open your ten best product pages and the policy pages in its translation editor.
    2. Translate the text with a translation tool and paste it back page by page, marking each page as draft.

    The prompt for this process

I am translating my store pages into [language] for buyers in [country]. Here is the machine translation of one product page: [paste].

Do not rewrite it yet. First list every phrase that reads as translated, every unit, size or date format a local buyer expects differently, and every word with a second meaning there. For each, say why in one line. Then ask me any question you need answered before a native speaker checks it.

Start with the list of phrases.

  2. Cultural and wording check

Tools, in order: any AI chat assistant → a shared document

    1. Ask the chat assistant for a list of questions the native speaker should answer for each page.
    2. Share the pages in a shared document with comments and publish only pages the native speaker has checked.

    The prompt for this process

Write a short checking brief for a native [language] speaker who will review my translated store pages.

My store: [what you sell, tone in three words]
    Pages to check: [list]

Write at most 6 questions per page about tone, words that sound foreign, sizes and units, and anything a local buyer could misread. Add one line asking them to mark every change in the comments. Keep it polite and short.

Start with the questions for the first page.

  3. Local visuals

Tools, in order: Higgsfield → Fotor

    1. Generate one or two scenes per market in Higgsfield, with your product kept exactly as sold.
    2. Fix light and sharpness in Fotor and add 'Scene created with AI' where the scene could mislead.

    The prompt for this process

Write image prompts for Higgsfield that show my product in a setting that fits [country].

Product: [exact colour, material, size, any text or logo]
Market notes: [season, typical room or street style]

Write 3 prompts of at most 35 words. Each says the product keeps its exact colour, size and text. No people, no children, no animals, no famous landmarks. Then say which scenes need the label "Scene created with AI".

    Start with prompt 1.

  4. Currency and shipping per market

Tools, in order: Shopify → a spreadsheet

    1. List currency, shipping cost and delivery time per market in a spreadsheet.
    2. Set each market in Shopify Markets and test one order page per market before going live.

    The prompt for this process

Help me plan currency and shipping for three markets in my store.

    Markets: [list]
What I ship from where: [describe]
Carrier prices and delivery times I have checked: [paste]

Make a table: market, currency, shipping price, delivery time, returns address, notes. Use only the figures I gave and write [CHECK?] where one is missing. Then list the policy points per market that I should check with a professional.

    Start with the table.
