Inference
Inference is the moment an already trained AI model is used to produce an answer, as opposed to training it.
What it means in practice
Every time you send a prompt, inference happens, and it is what usage limits and per-use prices usually measure. It needs computing power, which is why free plans cap it.
Example
Pressing send on a prompt and getting a reply is one act of inference.
